The town of Burton upon Trent is associated world-wide with brewing, it however no longer dominates local employment provision in the way that it did. One of the many businesses that have invested in the area are Toyota. Their car assembly plant at Burnaston is only four miles away. Burton is the administrative centre of the Borough of East Staffordshire. The Bass Museum of Brewing, walks along the washlands by the River Trent, several covered shopping precincts, a regular market, massive new cinema, nightclubs, the Brewhouse (arts centre) and the Meadowside Leisure Centre ensure all needs are well catered for. The population quoted includes all the towns inner wards - Broadway (popn 3810), Burton (1294), Edgehill (3809), Eton (3889), Horninglow (5990), Shobnall (4175), Stapenhill (5901), Uxbridge (2721), Victoria (4476), Waterside (4429) and Winshill (6746).
